OK, don't judge me (or post anywhere else!). You should have seen the looks Igot at the scrap yard... I was really afraid of a flat tire, but thank God, I mae it home without incident.
I just KNOW I am going to seee myself on one of those "Redneck" postings somewhere!
Have a great weekend and thanks to Del for all his help in helping with the strip job!

Don't worry. Taurus will only go down in value. They're not classics. May as well have fun with it :)

Well, it might have been more enjoyable however, I thought every cop in the neighborhood was going to want to have a chat with me, but I drove by 3 who didn't blink an eye! All that stress for naught!
Have a great weekend,

That's umm interesting...funny thing is if it's new enough to have that Eco-Boost V6 in there it could probably pull two.

People used to tow airstreams and such all the time in the 'olden days' with their sedans, right? Don't be ashamed, your Taurus (a REALLY well built, gorgeous car) is doing more work than 90% of the poseur pickups and SUVs around here ever will! :D

No worries. I actually thing the Taurus is a good looking car, and the 3.5(I think?) V6 makes around 260 horsepower.

I was quite nervous the day I towed a lincoln cont. on a trailer behind my s-blazer, did not have brakes hooked up so I went quite slow.

Man I though I did some dangerous stuff. I towed my 72 wagon home on a dolly using my 74 wag that only has a class 1 hitch.

Um, yeah, but those were full frame Cars with truck engines... or basically car bodies on truck chassis.

I tow stuff all the time with my Magnum. The only difference is that its rear wheel drive instead of front, and is a little longer and heavier than the Taurus. It pulls my uncles utility trailer better than his 2007 Silverado. Stops it better too...
My only problem is lack of a rise. I've got the hidden hitch, and the receiver goes up, and has a fixed rise. Being an RT it rides pretty low, so I risk dragging stuff. Suspension handles it fine.

No offense J but nothing in Missouri suprises me anymore. Every time I travel to that state I see something I have never seen before and hope I never see again.

I USED TO FLAT TOW MY CJ-5 WITH MY FORD WINDSTAR MINI VAN. THE JEEP HAD 33 INCH TIRES AND 6 INCH LIFT. IT WAS TALLER THAN THE MINI VAN. AFTER ABOUT 4 TRIPS TO BIG BEAR CALIFORNIA FROM SAN DIEGO HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND ALL THE BRAKES. TRADED IT AFTERWARDS FOR AN EXPEDITION. OH, WHY DO THEY MAKE CLASS 4 HITCH FOR A WINDSTAR MINI VAN ANYWAY?

That's about a 30 footer... looked really great from a distance, but the rockers and rear quarters were pretty soft! The gas tank skid plate was easy to take off with a a pair of tin snips!
Trust me, there was not much left to salvage!
Have a great week,
Jesse
