Is there a way to get the cable to move more freely inside the sleeve? It is on the passenger side cable that goes to the wheel. Seems like there is some old grease inside the sleeve that is making it stick, or maybe the sleeve has been pinched. I can't see any obvious place where it has been pinched though. Will graphite powder work with grease in there? Just wondering if anyone has come across this before, Thanks.

These things are usually terminal once they start to stick. Some will say to soak them in something but for the time, money and frustration involved you are better off to just replace them. They are usually availble, at least to order, from most any parts store.

Thanks. I got some graphite/oil cable lube I'm going to try after spraying brake cleaner down the cable. If that doesn't work I'll go buy one.

woah, woah woah glenn. i had the same thing happen to my rig but the thing was they had been stuck for 25 years. i took mine off and put one end in a vice and got one buddy to grab one end with a set of pliers and me on the other. he'd pull and i'd lube the line and pull it back through. this went on for about 10 pulls back and forth and whadda know...good as new. i'm all about saving the almighty dollar so i'd just put a little muscle in it and save a few ;)

My old Ford truck had the same problem.
After taking them off the truck, I cleaned
them as much as possible in solvent, dried
them, then used heater hose and hose clamps
to connect one end of the cable assy to
my grease gun tip. With the claps and hose
sealing everything up, I was able to force
synthetic grease through the entire length
of the cable assy. Lubed for life, these
babies work better than new. Cost was close
to $0.00

Okay, I cut off one of the little balls at the end of the cable, then pulled the cable out of it's sleeve. Sprayed the inside of the sleeve with generous amounts of brake cleaner, let it dry, then squirted the graphite lube in and ran the cable back thru, jimmied it back and forth about 40-50 times and it works. I then got out the torch and melted the end of the cable into a ball to catch the connector. We'll see how it goes.
