I am wondering what the wild flower situation is looking like these days.
After all this rain we should have a pretty good season. I know the weeds are really kicking up in my yard.

Haven't seen any yet, but it shouldn't be long...and it should be a bumper crop!

Nothing here in the Prescott area for probably another month.

I'm going to sycamore creek tomorrow. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Probably a bad area though, nothing really seems to grow there.

They usually start popping up out west first. In between Gila Bend and Yuma, the Harquahala Valley, etc.
More rain tonight and tomorrow. They should be out in droves once it starts warming up!

Yeah, it's going to hopefully be a great year for it.
I am heading out to 4 peaks for a hike next weekend so i will scout that out.
Really looking forward to it. We had a really good year 5 or 6 years ago and this one may be just as good.
If you see them showing up, PM me and let me know.
I will probably head out several times once they start blooming. Maybe we can do an easy trail run up Montana Mountain or something. It could be really picture worthy.

I might be able to get out in my LJ, if I'm not wrenching on my J10!

If the weeds are any indication, should be a great year! I live real close to San Tan Mtn and I love seeing it all green!

Well on the way home today I got to see the first bunch of wild flower on hwy 60 on the west side of Superior where the 4 lane go into 2 lane. Nice beautiful Yellow Flower in the middle and on both side of the road. Yes I think we are going to have a good wild flower season this year.

Jeff, the Montana Mt. is on the North side of Hwy 60 just pased Florence Junction turn off. Take the Queen Valley north to the first right turn off and take it about 3 mi. to the Forest Road and turn left on it and it will circle around and come out west of Superior on Hwy 60.

Thanks Jerry. I'll have to check it out.

I noticed a few 'blooms' in the 'wild flowers' that are growning in my front yard.

I am going to head out with a buddy on a last minute trip to Four Peaks tomorrow. It's raining but we will see how it goes. If we make it I will come back with a report on wild flower spotting.
I am probably going to head to Montana Mountain next weekend with the wife (probably in her liberty) to do some spotting. Anyone interested?

Ok, hit Four Peaks on March 6th.
A few flowers on the sides of 87.
Not much on the trail at any of the elevations.
Lots of snow on top of 4 peaks though.
With the rain this weekend we might get some blooms pretty soon

Temps approaching 80 later this week will definitely help things.

We took the Grand Cherokee to Sedona last weekend because we are getting pretty tired of the snow.
Schnebly Hill was open - not all the way, but it was pretty. There weren't too many wild fowers out yet. Oak Creek is running high.
I noticed a few 'blooms' in the 'wild flowers' that are growning in my front yard. Yea, we got these guys here...

...but they are in the front yard also.

Was at Arlington, running the natural gas line roads with a few friends Saturday. Pretty floral, but will dry up soon, as it is warming up every day.

I went and scouted Montana Mountain on Sunday. There were some flowers but not anywhere near the quantity I expected.
A close look at the plants and I can see they are still buds.
It's funny because next to the highway there are TONS, even where water wouldn't drain off.
I wonder if the heat of the asphalt makes them bloom eariler?

I was in Yuma on Friday. Lots of wildflowers in the Dunes and roadside areas along Interstate 8. I bet the Quartzite areas are good.

The wild flowers aren't out in the high country yet, but we took the Jeep to The Grand Falls this last weekend - they are really flowing this year from all the snow-melt. It's pretty impressive. They're east of Flagstaff, off the Leupp road. It's an easy road - washboarded, that's all until you get right to the end where there are some rocks.
Here's a link.

Heading back up to the Arboretum tomorrow. I will take a quick jump off the highway at the start of Montana Mountain to see if the situation has improved. I can't go too far, I will be in the wife's Liberty.
