pardom me if this horse has already been beaten to death, but i'm fixin' to pull the spare from under my 90 GW and adding another fuel tank in its place. my buddy did this on his late 80s suburban and now has a very enviable crusing range... key here in idaho.

anyone done this successfully/unsuccessfully?
can anyone point me in the direction of some older posts on this topic?
anyone suggesting calling myself off this hunt?

by the way, the full-size spare will go onto a swing away tire mount from one of the mid-80s ford bronco IIs or GMC products (depending on what i can find in the local yard with the right rear taillight clearance). i'm open to suggestions/advice/horror stories on this idea too.

thanks, as always.
and keep up the great work on this site.
behind ebay, this is where i live on the web...

Go to my site... I installed a 33 gallon Ford Bronco tank back there...

just so i'm clear, this was a swap-out, not an add-on, right?

same boat here.
4" BDS spring suspension lift, no body lift.
your best clearance guesstimate would be good...

Ok... if you want this to be an Aux tank, you need to set up a switch/relay valve... I have this as my only fuel cell.

If you are worried about clearance, I understand completely....I don't have that problem :D . This 33 gallon tank is a wopping 15" deep... my bodylift hides 3" of it beyond the top of the frame. Now if you get the 25 gallon tank from the Ford Bronco it is still a little deep at 12"...but it will basically look and fit as mine is now.

I can take a side pic for you if you like and post it here....to gert a better visual on clearance and departure angle..lemme know....
