This afternoon I disconnected the front sway bar and took it out for a try. The on road handling did not seem to be effected at all up to 45mph and the wheel travel off-road was pretty dramatic. Its not a daily driver but to anyone who is looking for a 4X4 upgrade for free, I recommend the disconnect. This may change with Wags or older Cherokees but for 10 minutes and no money, it's well worth it in my opinion.
I hope everyone had a good weekend.

I think 79 or 80 was the 1st year for SJ's to have trac bars, they didnt need it, but was required by law I believe. But ya, not having them is nice.

I heard you can use CJ type sway bar disconects....Is this true? I've got a 6" lift, so do ya all think 4" disco's will work?

My 76 J20 has the front sway bar. When I lifted it, it drooped down pretty bad. If I remember right it didn't line up well. At any rate I found two small hitch type pins, cut the connect bars in two, put a piece of 1/4" pipe on it, welded one end, and then crossdrilled each for the hitch pin. Result===discos which cost me the price of the two hitch pins. J20
