View Full Version : How to bypass Nuteral safety switch

81 chief with 727 trans....just put a new switch and wiring end on it and still nothing...i want to bypass it and just not have it...it is just a wheeler and think it would be nice to be able to start it in any gear....thanks....cody

going through the same process.i ashed the same kind of question.
i guess we are susposse to ground the wire to the body.i'll find out by the end of the day.

Yep, ground that wire, that is what the tranny does. Not a great idea in my opinion, but hey... we all grown-ups here.

ground the black with white strip wire to the body.:thumbsup:

thanks....it cant be worse then having to pop the hood to jump the cylinoid everytime

Theres a terminal on the underside of the solenoid that just needs to be grounded. Or swap one in that only has 4 terminals.:D

X2, there is one small terminal on the bottom of the solenoid, you can just ground that to the body and you will be good to go. I did this recently because the plug on my tranny was jacked up and wouldn't stay plugged in. Its fixed now but I am going to leave the wire connected (body side only) in case I have an issue in the future.

thanks guys...grounded it from the cylinoid...works great now
