need advice\help quick
i have the shafts,and carier out how do i get the pinion shaft and gear out of the housing?

Driveshaft and yolk nut have to be removed, then it should be easily removed, by tapping the pinion back. Diagrams top D44 bottom AMC20

i have the nut and yoke off and it wont go.with the nut on the shaft should i just wack at it?
will i kill it if i bang on it?

put the nut back on it and whack it with a 5lb hammer. shouldn't be more than3 or 4 soft strikes, but I've had a few that needed a solid 10 hits before they let go.
if you need help with the gears, let me know and I'll lend tools or a hand
