I'm down to the last few wires, and it's ready to start.....here is the problem: the previous owner did a bit of a hack job on the wiring, and I'm now playing hide and go seek trying to determine what goes where......the last few problems are:

1. I have one wire from the firewall that is red and fairly thin, and it splits into 4 more red wires:
</font> One red with a funky bare-metal connector</font> One red with white with a female round receptacle</font> One red with a funky bare-metal connector (again)</font> One red that goes to a quarter-sized diameter three-prong female receptacle.....from there, another red wire comes out the top and goes to a brown-plastic single-prong female receptacle
</font>I'm not sure what in the world all those red wires do, or what they go to. Anyone with an 83/84 able to help?

2. Inline with the oil pressure switch (the brass-looking round cylinder), there is also a 2-prong male plug sticking out.....what connects to this? What is it for? I don't seem to have a female-end anywhere that should attach to this....

3. From the AC plug mounted on the passenger fender, there are two brown wires. One connects to the brown wire from the firewall. The other has a female receptacle....and I have found two wires from the ac compressor, one on the front just behind the pulley, and the other is attached to the housing under one of the bolts. Which of these two connects to the female end? I am betting the one just behind the pulley is it, and the other is a ground.....but would like other's input.

4. Edelbrock 1406 Electric choke.....there is a black wire and a red wire.
</font> Does the black (ground) connect to the battery ground, or the fender, or the valve cover?</font> Does the red connect to the battery, the solenoid on the fender, or to one of the mysterious red wires I can't figure out?
</font>

sorry can't help with most of the wires but on the 1406, black goes to a good ground on the block and red goes to a switched 12v power source.......phil

Such as the solenoid? Or a wire from the firewall?

yes you can go from the switched side of the solenoid or from any other switched 12v source......phil

Maybe I'll just turn the key to the on position, and use a multi-meter to check the red-wires.....see if they are switched or not. If so, then one of them can go to the choke.....and the ground, I'll send that to the AC compressor ground.

Ryan, sent 4 - 1981 wiring diagrams to your work addy, should be the same, think the split was in 1985.
