Hey All, Do I just drill it and put a helic coil in it?

Thanks.

Paul.

Careful about drilling that; you're going into the timing chain cover. If you drill too far, in addition to doing a helicoil you may end up with an engine rebuild. Best to use a bottom-tap, and then replace it with a stud.

RWC, thanks. What is a bottom tap?

Needed to thread holes that have a bottom to them, not straight through. No taper so it threads the hole square to the bottom of the hole.

Thanks, Do I get this in the kit?

I would just drill the hole out for the next size up, thread it with a bottom tap, put a stud in as mentioned.

Ok thank, This engine isn't going to be in her to long. Does the stud end up being a stronger fix? I did a compression test on the 1 cylinder and she was reading a solid 90lbs. After seeing that I 'm not even going to check the others. Time for a rebuilt. Time to start working on the spare 360.

Be carefull the dizy hold down bolt is open to the inside of the timing cover,
so any crap from drilling is going to fall righ into the engine ! You may have anough
room to put some sort of cup rag ... on the back side to catch the crap though
the dizy hole , but make sure you can get it all out when done !
