First off I want to say thanks to everyone for the advise and help here, I've been building this thin on a shoe string budget while trying to use the best parts.

Heres a photo if the first day in the shop during teardown of the drivetrain.

You can see the QuadraCrud sitting underneath it, that definatley WONT be reused. Next is the engine bay stripped clean and a good coat of flat black to make it sanitary.

Next is the turbo 400 original to the Jeep that I had rebuilt along with a 32 splined output shaft installed.

Ok so here's part two this is after the drivetrain install
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/147/l_127d769d5efc4f1d9bfc8cf43ef49393.jpg
When I first installed it I ran it with a 1406 eddy for breakin purposes

After break-in I installed a Holley Pro-jection system with an Eddy 250hp wet NOS kit (for those nasty hills:D)

Next a little paint was needed I painted the truck in the ORIGINAL OD green (bought it from the US Surplus store)

For part three I will be working on the interior and begining my install of the D60 front along with a 14 bolt rear. So far I retouched the factory guages and replaced the connectors on the back with GM weatherpacks so no more faulty guages!!

I hope you guys like it so far, I'm not very good with taking pics while workin on stuff. I just get to far into it. The work you have seen done so far has been in the last month so you can see I don't leave myself much time to do anything else.

I like what you have done with your rig.

What do you mean GM weatherpacks?

And how did you touch up the gauges?

Thank you...

Nice work, looks like you're making very good progress.

You must have some pretty wide shoestrings. Unless you wheel and deal, I see alot of expensive parts.

Why did you lose the quadratrac?
I ditched it for a lot of reason's the biggest one's being the cost of replacement parts and two being that when this truck is on the bottle it creeps into 500/500 club and a quad just won't take that period.

Instead of the old round pin style connector on the back of the gauges that get loose and corrode, I wired in a 12 pin GM weatherpack connector instead.

By retouching the gauges i took them apart and cleaned the faces, buffed the lenses, and painted the pointers bright yellow.

JR
Wheel and deal is my FIRST name :D I actually build custom cars and jeeps for a living so I sorta have a LOT of parts laying around at times. Here's a breakdown of what all this has cost me so far.

74 J10 $400
registration $186
Motor, Trans & T-case rebuild $1326
Edelbrock NOS 250HP kit $200 (FLEA MARKET FIND)
Edelbrock performer manifold $286
MSD ignition box, controller $100 (junkyard find)
Holley Pro Jection kit $150 (guy hated tuning it)
Dana 60 kingpin front $650 all new brake parts
14 bolt Lincoln locked:D $0 (had it)
Hoses and misc stuff $150 (wiring and stuff)
Toyo 38x15.50R16 $600 used at about 80%
Paint GCI $70
Grand Total so far $4118
I figure when the interior is done I will be about another $600 into it including some herculiner for the bed. So for just under five grand I have a VERY competent daily driver and wheeling rig along with towing capability.

do you have a pic of how this looks and where did you buy a 12 pin connector or is it a junkyard pull

Well heres what's happened so far this weekend, I built all the mounts and installed the rear 14 bolt along with some chevy 60" 3/4 ton leafs, reversed one shock mount on the 14 and built some perches and shes in. I would also like to know what you guys think about the tires in the last photo, the black wheeled ones are 39.5 swampers on H1 beadlocks and the other are the old 38' Toyo's from my last FSJ on the weld wheels. I kind of am partial to the Toyo's because of ride quality and wear but love the look of the swampers!

What you got going on with that shackle angle?

cable97526
02-08-2010, 01:45 PM
what do you mean? At full droop the shackle cannot reverse the way it is set now but if I were to move it any farther forward it would.

I did not realize that it was at full droop. Static ride should be much different.

At static ride height there about 30 degrees back which is flat springs basically.

Well it's DONE, still have to get the interior done but all in all I LOVE my JEEP! It has taken about 2 months to complete with some very long weekends but it was worth it.
