Radiator shot?

The weld on the top bracket of the rad. has come loose. so now the rad is coming apart at the seams. I have gone over the previous posts and it seems that this is just one of those things that can happen in a wg. The 4 core looks like the way to go but there was mention of a "slight trimming of the shroud" . Can you please explain this.

If the radiator has been working fine and not over heating but now just falling apart get it soldered at a rad shop...prolly $50 or so. Cheaper than a 4-core but if you need a 4-core nows the time I guess.

Ditto on Joe's reply! If you take it to a radiator shop and ask them to "fix" it, they should either be able to solder or weld(best) it, and if they think it's shot, they could tell you that too. The radiator's are pretty decent to pull/replace on these, so that helps. You "could" mickey mouse patch the setup, but it sounds like you need a little more than a "minor" patch AND, those types are never "permanent" style.....been there, done that, but it's always best to get it fixed as "completely" as possible or replace with new(or better as you are thinking).

The radiator is easy to pull and replace. Pull the radiator and take it to a repair shop. Then can re-solder it (you don't weld brass Uncle!) hopefully cheaper than $50 if you pull it yourself and they can tell you the condition of the core before they repair it - but look at the core yourself (just to keep them honest - if they aren't already http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif)
