Does anyone know if I will be able to use my 360 flex plate on my new 401. I am putting the 401 in my 89 Grand with a 727 tranny. The 401 had a T/H 400 so obviously the flex plate is not going to match up. But would like to use the 360 flexplate if poss?? If not does any one know where I can get an adapter? Kirk Hurst C.C. TX.

You need to use a flexplate from an early '70's Matador or other AMC car equipped with a 401 and 727 transmission. Also, there may be a bushing in the end of your 401 crankshaft that was used with the TH 400. This must be removed before mating to a 727. I called Kragen (do they have Kragen where you live?) for the flexplate--I asked for one for a '72 Matador and they had one for $49.00. I'm getting ready to put a 401 into my '86 GW. Good luck!
