hood cable snapped

on top of flopping my jeep i just tried to open the hood and the cable broke looks like the cap on the end slid off...so whats the easiest way to pop my hood open now with the busted cable?

stick a screwdriver in the hood/grille gap,smack the release bar back with it to pop the hood.

in case i need to know does anyone know how long the cable is so i can get a replacement?

Bj's has a replacement. Cost $20 or so. Easy to replace.
