Transfer Case ... Sensor?

I was crawling around under the jeep, and while cutting out the old exhaust I noticed that there is some kind of plug (electrical) in the transfer case... but nothing plugged into it. Looks like for some kind of sensor maybe? Anybody know what this is? (BTW - This isn't the original transfer case.)

The only thing electrical on the tcase would be the switch for the 4WD dash light.
