I plan on doing 4" springs in the front, will a shackle flip in the rear make me level? 1980 J10. I can move the mount or do what ever fabricating that is needed.

It "can" make it level. The newer SJ's had box style rear spring pearches (as opposed to post mount) Soo if you just flip the shackle, you have to move the mount farward. I am sure todd will leave a answer here (riverbeast) as he makes a kit for the rear shackle flips.

Thanks for the props, Brandon ;)

I HATE BLOCKS!!!! but... you could use them...UGH!!!! (did I just say that?!?!)

Depending on the year of the J truck... you 'can' make a shackle flip work....post-mount style came in 75 and older and box style mounts are in 76 and newer.

The post mount would be the easiest to gain approx 4" of lift with the flip using a longer main leaf...or... moving the mount fwd about 1.25".... about 3.5" would be gained on this type.

Box style mount is a little more complicated to gain 'just' 4". I have a shackle inversion kit that I sell fopr box style mounted FSJ's that yields 7" of lift to compensate for FSJ's with SOA's up front and allows you to site level without the use of blocks (CUZ I HATE THEM) :D .

Now... to gain just approx 4" with the box style mount, you would have to remove the entire box mount from the frame, invert it (making note of the OEM location of where the shackle eye bolt is) lower it about 1" and move it fwd about 1.25"...this give the springs and shackle the proper location for correct operational movement. The shackle, once inverted should be canted toward the rear at about 5 O'clock looking at the driver's side, 7 O'clock looking at the pass side.

Any more questions... just shoot... ;)
