Does any one have a picture of the vacuum switch in the glove box that controls the t-case?
the Waggy i'm buying is missing the switch.
What exactly does the switch do, can it be by passed? I'm not a fan of vacuum lines to operate things.

QuadraTrac Fun? Some folks have made mechanical shifter modifications to their QT Edrive shifter. The vacuum shifter is pretty basic really. I use a MityVac hand vacuum pump for testing vacuum lines, switch and shifter. It is possible the switch is attached to some vacuum lines behind the glove box or somewhere up in the dash. The original vacuum lines that run from the switch to metal vacuum lines at the firewall have colored stripes on them. One is red and one is white. A lot of FSJs I have seen over the years still have the original rubber lines.
If the switch is gone, I don't know if you will find a new replacement. Been a while since I looked for one because I have collected a few used spares. The switch is the same as used on the NP229 equipped FSJs from 85-91, just mounted differently.
Here is a bunch of info and pictures on the QT:

My '77 J-10 has been running for 3 years without a switch.I have a bunch of them, just havent got that far yet.
There should be 2 metal lubes coming up between the fire wall and the back of the engine. Hook up direct vac to one of these lines. If your dash light works, it'll tell you if you have the right one or need to switch it.
I probably have an extra one around here if your in need of one, PM me and we'll take.

does the 4x4 work without the switch?
what does it do?
the switch is definitely missing. there are three vacuum lines unhooked where the switch should be.

There is a vac pod on the t-case that operates the shift lever. Vac to one side engages, vac to other disengages.

If it is a stock QuadraTrac, it is full time 4WD. MileMarker offers a part time kit. When that is installed, the EDRIVE switch becomes the 2wd/4wd selector. Plenty of good QuadraTrac info on that link I posted earlier. Even a vacuum diagram.

Need to know what year to give you an accurate diagnosis. You said Waggy...80's models are completely different animals from 70's.
