steering box install

I just bought a rebuilt steering box and had it drilled and tapped for hydro assist. I am going to remove the old box and install the new one this weekend but I don't know how to tell where to position the steering shaft or pitman arm since it is a new box???

Does anyone know the proper procedure for installing a new steering box and setting everything up correctly?

I just took the IQ test on tv last night and I didn't do so good :rolleyes:

iirc, the connection to the column can only go one way. the pitman arm is too. btw, i always index stuff like this before i take it apart with a few punch marks or lines. leave yourself a trail of breadcrumbs :D

Thanks, I can't really index the gear because I am replacing it...but I guess it doesn't matter since the connections can only go one way ;)

I was mainly concerned about the pitman arm being in the right position on the box....but since it is also a one way deal I shouldn't be a problem...

Oh yaeh, my breadcrumbs are in the form of lots of digital pics!!!!
