Hi folks gotta solder a few wires together and was wondering which solder is best for this . Acid core or rosin core solder. A couple of the wires I need to solder are for my coil so I need the best stuff I can get.

Acid core is for copper pipes, rosin core is for wires.

So are you saying rosin core is what I should use for an automotive application?

If you are using acid core, you might have a bit too much heat there.

The acid core solder will solder the wire just fine, but the residual acid will eat the wire in two after a while. Yep, acid core is for pipes or for making stuff from sheet metal... structural uses. Rosin core is for electrical joints.

Rosin core also tends to come in smaller gauges. Acid core tends to be in larger gauges, to match the size (1/2" pipe vs. 18-22 ga. wire)of the job. There are exceptions of course, so make sure to check the label.
Tgreese is right, acid core will cause excessive corrosion on wiring.
