I need help or advice. My 76 Waggy 360 2bbl th400 Qtrac seems to have a small problem with the choke. I don't drive it an awful lot but I do like to drive it to the grocery store and running around town. Tonight I was driving it to the local grocery store and it seemed kina sluggish. It's only about 45 degrees so I figure it's just not warmed up. On my way home from the grocery store still sluggish but getting better and the heater is now starting to blow warmer air. I hit the kickdown large cloud of black smoke then a noticeable difference in power. now she's running much better just in time to pull in to my driveway.
Is there a way to adjust the choke or should I be thinking about rebuilding the carb. I'm no carb guru so I'm a little stumped on where I should start first. Anyone have a similar problem? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Where you live, do you really need a choke?

I have a manual conversion on my 1406 and love it..pull it to start and slam in it after 3 seconds. No relying on anything.

I eventually want to go to the edelbrock 1406 with the electric choke but I have to change my intake manifold to the edelbrock four barrel manifold.

Sounds like the coil is not getting power. When the jeep fires, you should be getting voltage to the spade terminal on the choke coil. If you are not check that wire I believe it comes off of the oil pressure sending unit. This keeps the choke coil from being powered before you get the truck running.

I agree with Skeeter, first thing I would check. you can bypass the oil pressure switch by jumping it with a short piece of wire, on the plug. Hankrod
