Hi guys, I dont own a jeep or anything, but I always have loved the full size ones and wouldnt mind getting one in the future. I'm 19 from MA, my grand father owned a cherokee golden hawk(but I dont remember it) which was green, and a newer grand wagoneer(93?) which I loved. Anyway, sorta back here because I've been looking at gsa auctions and have seen m-715s which look like mean machines. I'm trying to figure out if the golden hawk is still in the family. Hope I'm here to stay and learn a bit more since I'm clueless about anything with 4wd since other than my grand father, theres never been an SUV in my family's driveway. Thanks and hope to see you all around.
Andrew
edit: couldnt have been a 93. It was the older body style, but newer grill style. so I guess like an 87 or so for the grand wagoneer.

Welcome!
www.m715zone.com has a wealth of info on M-715's. There are some folks on this board who are knowledgeable about them as well.
If you don't know how to do your own work on these beasts, they are expensive to own and maintain, as is any 20 year old vehicle.
Oh, and they tend to multiply. Consider yourself warned. ;)

The body style stayed with the FSJ up until 91 I prolly am wrong but I thought I read that the FS cherokee stopped in like 83 or something like that. Good place for learning though is right here. Great group of people with lots of knowledge and help to give.

thanks for the warm welcome! as for the vehicles my grandfather owned, I guess I was a little off. he owned:
79-80 cherokee golden eagle
86ish-92 grand wagoneer
Talked to my dad who said it was a golden eagle, as he remembered the big gold eagle on the hood. either way, it was green. I know I have a pic of it somewhere, but its really buried in an album somewhere. Anyway, like the forum so far, lot of info and seems pretty friendly.

Welcome from Texas! If you look you'll find a good running Wagoneer for $500 to $800 and you'll be in business. If you're lucky you can find a Cherokee or J-truck for $1000 or less. You'll never understand how good a Wagoneer is until you drive one. I personally have owned 5 Grand Wagoneers and a J-10. I will always have at least one FSJ in my driveway.

well I'm back again, 2 years later and now 21. Still no FSJ but still the strong craving for one. Wish I had some more luck with the sale of my car and maybe I could get one, but no interest yet :( test drove a wagoneer with my mom (she wanted one) but it was just too much money for the condition ( i think he wanted around 5500). well thats all for now, glad to be back on here. This is probably the friendliest group of people ive ever encountered on a forum and Im proud to be a member of the club. :fsj:

That's alright. You are off to a good start. Research, research, research... then buy. Don't rush. If it does not feel right, your subconsious brain is trying to warn you about something. Find the right one at the right price.
