The fuel gauge in my 72 wagoneer is driving me nuts!...does anyone make an after market gauge
that will work with my stock sending unit? I cant find one. i believe its 0 to 110 ohm's...real odd. the sender is good...but not really without a gauge to read it!......do i need to replace the sender with a universal type and get a gauge to match? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Chances are, you may have a bad ground on your sender, or the sender may be going bad. Have you checked it? May also be a hole in the float on your sender, so its filling up with gas and not floating... Make sure of those three things first.

Bjs Offroad has new senders ( bjsoffroad.com ), and Autometer's guages work (For most Fords before 1989 and most Chryslers - 73 Ohm Empty/ 10 Ohm Full). I use part no 4715 in my wag.

Ive never had the tank full, but it read empty correctly, and I put 5 gallons in and it read near 1/4 tank, so it works pretty good from what I can tell. Im using the stock sender. I checked the sender with a multi meter, and got the 73 ohm empty and 10 ohm full readings.

you can also get a factory replacement guage pretty cheaply, i replaced the sender, wires, connections, and then found out that it was just a bad guage!
