Well my FSJ hasn't ran for 7 months and now i finally got the cash to get it running again. I was wondering what i should have done to the Jeep since it was sitting for so long? I;m guessing a tuneup is a must but is there anything else im forgeting? Thanks for any help in advance.

It would be a good idea to put some good gas additive in it to help clean up any water and varnish in the fuel system, and to get fresh gas in it.

Change your oil and flush out your radiator wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'd also charge the battery real well before starting the motor as this decreases the initial stress on the alt. Glad to hear you're getting your FSJ running. Why has it been sidelined these last 7 months?

Well when i bought the truck there was a lot of work it needed but I decided to take it offroad anyways. Well, me and some friends went 4wheeling in Death Valley and all hell broke loose. My bellhousing cracked clean through, the tranny burnt up on the drive home since i couldnt shift out of second and the pinion bearing in my front diff decided to shatter..there was no fluid in the front case. I was a novice and shouldnt have taken the Jeep off road untill i knew more about its workings. I guess i had to learn the hard way http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif. It sat around for 7 months until i found myself a replacement tranny(T18a)and the money for other misc. parts. If it wasnt for all you other FSJ'rs out there it would still probably be collecting dust. Thanks for all teh help now and in the past everyone!!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

if you remove the plugs before cranking, you could give each cylinder a dose of marvel mystery oil. but unless youlive in a rainforest it prolly isnt necessary. charge up the battery tho. fresh gas is a good idea too. BTW, if you are on a limited budget(who isnt) get the rig running good before blowing the budget on mods. good luck.

Fresh gas and change the oil but drive it around the block a few times first to get it nice and hot so all that moisture inthe engine will get removed with the oil change.. Give your hoses a quick retighten as they tend to loosen when left sitting a long time.
then drop me a line when you want to go hit some trails around here. i live next to Azusa canyons.

here's another plan,if you ran the front diff dry, chances are the rest of the carrier is toast too. prolly for a whole lot less money you get the entire axle from a wrecking yard.the key is getting one with the same ratio. count the teeth on the ring and pinion and make sure you get the same. its a sweat equity kinda deal. the job is a lotta bullwork, but not demanding on the precision. just my 2cents
