My 1988 FSJ 360V8 failed the Ohio e-check twice and since I'm not ready to move to another county I need to get it to pass. I know that putting the air pump back in order might help but it was disconnected when I got it and I don't know where the big hoses and the vacuum hoses go. Can anyone give me any advice on the pump or on my problem in general?

Yes, you have to get the air pump back in order. What will be a big help to us is if you have the test numbers for CO and HC and such. This will tell us where to look to help you fix it.
P.S. I need an air pump, too. I just did an engine swap and found out the donor engine has a seized air pump. Anyone out there that has taken their pumps off and don't need them anymore, care to donate them to a worthy pair of fellow FSJ'ers????

You also need the air pimp to oxyegenate your convertor or you'll have problems with it.Do you still have all the smog tubes on your manifolds?

MY HC reading is 203.3 with an allowable limit of 155. My CO is 7.50 with an allowable limit of 1.91. The manifolds still have the tubes and the one-way valves on them. I am missing the hose that goes over to the right side and I must be missing some big hoses that go on the left side and the T or whatever connects into the hose to go to the right side.

AND my pump will not turn! Can I fix it?
BY THE WAY: The stalling problem I had before is cured (for now). Someone suggested the pick-up coil in the distributor. I checked the resistance of it and it was WAY high. I replaced it and it hasn't stalled since! Thanks for all the suggestions that many of you gave me on that one.

Does anyone have a working pump that they won't be using?

Here's one for auction:
eBay Motors # 1862383877 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1862383877&rd=1)
You'll also need the diverter valve, and the hoses that go from the diverter valve to each of the check valves (on the manifold AIR tubes). Lastly, there should be a tube from the catalytic converter to another check valve (on the driver side of the engine).
