Just did some online Quotes for the 80 cherokee.
value set at 25,000
Grundy 195.5 per year
Hagerty 457.00 per year
any pros and cons ?
after adding up everything on the restore, liability only is not going to cut it anymore. Thanks for any input.

Better double check with Hagerty....they usually won't insure 4x4's. And you've got something out of whack with your inputs - Hagerty is a deal on collector car insurance. Something's not right if you got over a $400 quote.

You often have serious restrictions on how you can use it and it has to be in a locked, garaged facility when not in use.
AFAIK, it's usual for "club functions", parades and going to and from the gas station.

I just talked to my insurance agent two days ago about this, he said get an appraised value from a reputable appraiser and submit that to the insuance co. then you could get specialized coverage. This was from Country Companies.

most of the "collector" car insurance companies put restrictions on when you can drive the car, and have milage limitations. as far as ever taking your jeep on a dirt road, forget about it, it will most certenly void your coverage. there is alot of fine print in those contracts, just make shure you know what you are geting.

all my jeeps are fully restored, or in process, and they are all covered by Hagerty.
THey have to be in the garage, locked and there are limitations, i.e. not a dialy driver...
Did have some damage and Hagerty stepped up like no other insurance company I have ever known... Can't wait until my escalade is 20 years old!

it's in a locked garage. i did like that they do have coverage for stored classics/ not finished yet/ stang/ as long as it's in the garage. and as far as the milage goes it's unlimited and yes you can take it for rides that are not club related. movies, dinner, joy ride. per my conversation with them today.

I went with Hagerty on my M715, they didn't want an appraisal at all, just pics. I told them what it was worth and they insured it for that amount. It was (still is) in the process of being restored and it was less than $100 per year -- this was 3-4 years ago though.
I also looked into State Farm (who my DD's are insured through) and they have a very competitively priced classic car policy with agreed value and everything.

i'll look into that Monday, i have heard bad things with standerd Ins Co on get repairs done if needed. i like the fact that Hagerty will pay you to do the repairs if you want.

I have American Collectors Insurance.
Cost me about 125 a year and can drive 5000 miles, I value my Jeep around 4000.
They insure Jeeps an 4x4s, have a few different plans ie: 2000 miles, 5000, and a new drive it for occasional work an such @ 7500 miles a year. (I'm gonna look into switching to this 7500 mile one)
A few caveats, IIRC, one needs to own another insured vehicle 10yrs or newer and all licensed drivers in your household need a vehicle also.
No i don't work for them, never tried other collectors insurers, did get some crazy quotes from state farm and checked others.
ACI seemed to have the best deal out there an they understand that i like to drive my Jeep.

 Hagarty  they won't cover anything unless its garage kept driven limited, and it can't push pull tow or haul anything . . .
inside storage on 1 ton n larger truck isn't worth the cost, to there point in having my 1 ton 1.25ton 2.5ton n semi tractor if i can't use them i may as well of just crushed them . . . Not be restoring them
I never tried Grundy the rules the same ? ?

no biggie, not to say i'll ever get that for it but best to be insured after all the work and money that has gone into it.

I have always used State Farm for my "antique" truck/Jeep insurance. currently have three policys with them on Jeeps. Each policy is about $108.00/year for full coverage. I set the value of the vehicle, furnish photos, and show proof it is registered as an antique vehicle by our state.
It might cost more if you have a really high value set, but State Farm has been really easy to deal with.

They quoted me $68 a year to insure the wrecker for $5K and theres no mileage restrictions. They do customs also.

I have not had any claims on the old vehicles. I have had numerous claims on our other cars & trucks throughout the years. I have been with the same agent, who is a friend of mine, for 32 year's and trust him to help out if I ever have trouble with a claim.
State farm does insure a lot of antique/classic vehicles according to my agent. So, I really am not worried about dealing with State Farm.

$90/year through Hagerty for my Waggy. I had a claim with them and had no problems getting it fixed. They sent a claims guy out to make an estimate. He cut a check for repair time @ shop rate and parts from Zach. Nothing but good things to say about Hagerty.

I got Grundy insurance on my J10, but i have had no claims. They have similar limitations to the others, and my policy is like $195 per year.
The agreed value coverage was key. My regular insurance does not carry agreed value/ stated value.
The bit I use / drive my J10, the limitations are fine.
If it was a work truck or something I'd use more often then I'd carry different insurance.
