So some of you may know that our van is out of commission. Well my wife has been driving the jeep to work. (personally I think she broke the van on purpose) :D
Any how. I guy she works with saw her driving it and gave her a book for it. Said he used to have one but now that he doesn't he wanted us to have the book.
Here are the pictures of what we got...

Some of the nice features are step by step troubleshooting and individual part wiring diagrams...

That's sweet. I like how AMC points out in bold letters, about the fuel gauge not working properly.

Might see if you can scan it and add it to the 'ol Tom Collins page.

Kind of a self fulfilling prophecy isn't it?

that will come in handy.;) Already has. I took the carb off, reset the choke and put it back on. The jeep fired right up with little encouragement from the gas pedal. Idles smooth. accelerates smooth. I am hoping this cures a few of my issues. Oh and I found the vacuum line for the power valve had collapsed. might have been an issue. :D

wonder why they show the wagoneer having widetrac fenders?

illustration purposes only of course. notice how the cover only says "grand wagoneer / truck" ?
The book was published in 1984.
The tail lights shown in that section are the 84 ones. but I figure most of the rest of it is the same as my 83. The dash they show is the same as mine.
ooh and looking at it. the wiper motor is supposed to "park" the wipers. it is actually a setting and there is a troubleshooting section just for if the wipers dont park. :D
Yes, this is going to come in very handy

Each of the different sections contain some troubleshooting.
sections are... engines (6&8 cyl), electrical, clutch, gearboxes (T-176, 208, &229) auto transmission (yes it is separate from the gearbox section), steering and front axle, rear axle, suspension, brake system, heating and air conditioning, & accessories (need to troubleshoot your radio, luggage rack, brush guard, & trailer hitches?) :D

what years does it cover?
it doesn't specify years of coverage. I think it is meant to cover just 1984 grands, J10 and J20.
Another neat thing is at the beginning of every chapter it lists with pictures the special tools you might need when working on something in that chapter.
Next time we get together, i will try to remember to bring it with me so you can look at it.
As for scanning it, I dont have a flatbed scanner. Otherwise I would lovew to make a digital copy of it for "personal" use.

They must have had a seperate manual for the downsized Cherokees/Wagoneers and the CJs that year.

The 79 and the 89 shop manuals I have cover every model they built.
