Hey All,
Just curious what I should be looking for? I would like to put on a Qaudra jet. Read alot of good things here about them.
I have both types of stock intakes, squarebore and spreadbore. I also have a 4350 motorcraft.
What would be my best combo?

My first choice is an Edelbrock Performer intake with a Quadrajet carb.

if I had some cash I would also go that route. smile.gif I'm working with what I have. If all I need is a Q-jet to put on one of these setups it will be alot less than dinner. lol Still looking for a performer in the yards. I would like to put the Q-jet on. I think the last Q-jet I looked under apeared to look like a spreadbore.

In other words...if that spreadbore intake you have fits the 4350, then it will fit ONLY one other carb...and that is the 4300 (which is essentially the same thing)

So, I should be able to bolt on Q-Jet no problem to my amc squarebore? Just have to work out the linkage.

Paul, use the squarebore intake and get a speadbore adapter and use the Q-jet. The AMC spreadbore intake will only take a MC 4350 or 4300. They are spreadbores also but a diffent pattern than the Q-jet. Plus finding a MC spread to squarebore adpater is near to impossible.
squarebore + spreadbore adpater = Q-jet

Yes, there are a lot of different opinions on this but I would say a late 70's Q-jet would be the most desirable. Most are about 800 cfm (more than you need but it is a vacuum secondary carb). They have an electric choke, part throttle adjustment, and better casting quality than earlier units. I would look for a book about Rochester Quadrajets written by Doug Roe. It will help you tune, troubleshoot, and modify the Quadrajet for your particular needs.

The Doug Roe book is awesome!, almost to much info, but easy to understand and well worth the money. I used an early '80's Quadrajet from a Monte Carlo. I picked it because it was a 750 and had the sideways fuel inlet that I like better for clearance. As for linkage, I hacked the throttle arm from my old 2150 and carefully welded it to the Quadrajet.
