I am headed to Phoenix on business in late January. I can't play golf every day so I figure I might pack a small tool kit with my clubs. Are there any good FSJ boneyards in the Phoenix area that would be worth hitting while I am out there? I prefer the u-pull type so I can select my own parts.

http://www.amc4x4.com/ Try this place. They have hooked me up in the past. I don't know if they are u-pull type but they do have a lot.

Arizona 4X4 recyclers on the western end of Broadway is an all Jeep boneyard. I got a steering knuckle, drag link, and tie rod from an early closed knuckle wagoneer for a power steering conversion on my '48 Willys pickup from them. I also found the very elusive 360 V8 fender badge for my '71 pickup there. It's not a u-pull it though.

There is a all AMC/Jeep junk yard on a street called Glendale ave near 67th ave. I've never been there but I've been meaning to. I could get the exact address for you if you want.
Oh...I just noticed, it's the place that Porkchop is talking about, just click on the link he provided to get the address.

well, I could basically give you a rundown of what amc 4x4 has there. I go there nearly every week to deliver parts(I work for a Jeep dealer) and I scout their small yard everytime I go for about half an hour. At the time, they don't have all too much for fsj's...what are you looking for? Anything specific? It is 67th ave and belmont which is just south of Northern. By the way, they are not a "you pull it". They do it all for you. Their prices are pretty high in my opinion, but if you can't find something somewhere else and they have it, then I guess you could get it there. Honestly, I try not to buy too much from them, bacause frankly, their pretty rude. That's my opinion though.

The AZ Rhino herd has been kicking the idea of a January trail run. Intrested?

I haven't been to Az 4x4 recyclers so I can't really comment on them. I haven't been to any other "junk yards" other than AMC 4x4 since I moved to phoenix. I just haven't had much time on my days off. I usually have other things keeping me busy, namely my cherokee. In the end I just buy new parts and have them shipped to my work so I can just take them home and start wrenching. I need to get out to some more yards though because buying new parts is eating at my wallet :(

Thanks guys. The difference between the round of golf and a FSJ is who's paying for it! The golf is work (yeah, I know, tough job, but someone has to do it!). The FSJ comes out of my pocket. Besides I have too many already! Not really sure what I am looking for. Current FSJ projects include a rhino conversion, TH400/QT to T-18/Dana 20 swap. I also have a Willys SW project underway. Always looking for rust free Willys parts.

Can you think of a better place to talk about asphalt? We don't pave too many roads in Virginia during January, February and early March. The national convention is always in late January or early February in a location where outside activities are available (like scouring junk yards, pulling parts, and or playing golf).
