Mine only has one, but I see a place for two, and there was very little spring pressure contrary to what was said in the tech section on taking it apart.

Should there be a 2nd one in this empty space on the other arm?

Are you talking about the tailgate regulator?
If so, then yes, there should be two of them.

Pretty sure BJ's Off-Road just sells the entire assembly.
I'll look out back when it gets light, should be one I can pull a spring off of for you.
If not, just post up in the wanted section.
Between the collective mass of folks here there a several K of old broken tailgate motors laying around.

OK, I can only find smaller springs from the door regulators.
Post up in the wanted section, someone will have some.

thanks, I'll contact BJ's, my old one is rusted through and all gummed up so I want to replace the whole thing.

it worked like this for awhile, do you think the extra stress has worn out my motor?

the motor still turns both directions, but I'd hate to put it all back together just to find the motor isn't strong enough to move the window.

deceided to goto a junkyard to also get spare motor just incase, and the one i pulled only had one spring as well. atleast this one moves a bit better and the spring still pulls it to the top, not very hard though. should I try putting both springs on one?

i've pulled 3 of these from later model gw's and they each had only one spring. i think that 2 springs would make the going up easier. but the going down would be real hard on that little motor. the one on my rig hardly worked when i took it out, but with some r&r and lots of dry moly, it works like a charm.

i'm sorry, but what's r&r and dry moly?

I was planning on cleaning it real good and using some white lithium grease, same thing?
