My 89 GW has been sitting for over a year due to the cam gear and distributor gear eating each other. I finally decided to attempt to get this thing up and running again with MAJOR, MAJOR, HUGE, MEGA assistance from Zack from ZM JEEPS. He was in town over the holidays and spend about 8 hours (just about the max that anybody can tolerate me for) with me on Weds. to get this done. My mechanic pulled some of the engine apart while he was diagnosing the issue, but that is where it stopped as of Sept. 2008. We pulled off the timing coverm cleaned it up real good, checked out the oil pump, put a new gear on the cam and distributor and started buttoning everything back up. Hit a few small snafus here and there in regrds to bolts, brackets, etc. After we cranked the engine to TDC, dropped the dist. in, hooked up the vacuum gauge, multi meter, battery, we shot some starting fluid in, cranked for a few minutes and it finally fired! First time in well over a YEAR! We set the timing, adjusted the carb, and drove it out of the garage under it's own power! I was / am VERY happy about this! I cannot thank Zack enough for his time, parts, tools, and expertise in this matter. Now I jst need to change the oil, flush the cooling system, get some fresh gas in the tanl, check some other fluids, bleed the brakes, and get it to the garage to get it to pass the state inspection! WHOOOHOOO!!!! Big Blue rides again! WHOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

...just about the max that anybody can tolerate me for...
IIRC it's like 3-5 minutes for a school adminstrator

Just kidding Earl, glad to hear it's up and running.

Still have some work to do to get it back to it's previous trail worthiness, so I will not be in the Pine Barrens in Feb. I would love to get to a meet and greet at ZM JEEPS as well since I helped move most of the stuff in there, but my wag is not going to make an 8 hour drive at this time. maybe this summer!:drivin:
