I finally got the J10 to run cooler! I replaced the temperature sending unit! My old one ran high, that combined with a vapor lock problem convinced me that the truck was running hot.

But it got me to thinking, what symptoms would I notice if the truck was running hot? Would it run different? Smoke?

If all your heating prob was a faulty temp sender, then count yer lucky stars.
I KNEW mine was running too hot. Replaced the temp guage but it told me what I already knew: it was running too hot.
Things that freaked me out when it ran hot:
1) A loping shudder when idling
1.5) Fast overheating when idling
2) Interior getting dramatically hot
3) Exterior aux fan worthless
4) Dramatically decreased performance under load when temp guage reading hot
5) Overall sick feeling (FSJ owner)
You would know, I think, just from performance.--Brent

Has anyone here cut out all the crap on the back of the grill to install a decent sized radiator. I am seriously considering this even if it is a big task.
