I just finish swapping over flattop knuckles to my 88 GW and a have a little problem. I cannot get the passenger-side brake caliper to line up and bolt-in now. The bottom bolt hits the rotor!!! What did I do wrong?

Another question: Is there any reason why I got about an inch of lift from doing this swap? I pulled the knuckles off a 77 donor and swore up and down that the 77 sat higher. I thought it was the front springs, but now I think it may have been the spindles.

Not sure how you could have gained lift from swapping the knuckles, the spindle mounting position has to remain in the same location for the axle shafts to be inserted.
Did you have the rig up in the air, supported by the frame, with the springs hanging free?
If so, that's just the springs relaxing a bit and it might seem higher for a bit, the weight of the rig will settle them back to where they were shortly.

Not sure about the caliper thing, I don't think you can get them on wrong or clocked differently. I'll shoot some pic's of mine in a bit.
