So how do you tell a W/T? I just bought my 1982 Cherokee for $400 with 160,000 miles. It also has the amc 360. So Im trying to get as much info on this bad boy so I can start my upgrad wish list started. Thank You very much.

It would have two doors, flares and the six and seventh digit of the VIN is 17.

A WT will have obvious large flares on the wheel wells and it'd be a 2 door. If a WT 2 door in 82 the 6th and 7th digit of the VIN will be 1 7 If it's The NT 2 door the numbers will be 1 6

Not many are rare, most are pretty toasted.

It depends on your definition of "rare", in this board they are not rare at all, fairly easy to find if you really want one. But you may not notice any for years if you are not looking out for us

Doesn't say how many are WT vs NT.

The WT's are much more popular than the NT 2 dr, you could probably call the NT "rare".

So then the WT is basically a stock Chevy width d44?
How much difference is there in width between a W.T. and a N.T.?

I dunno from Chevy but a WTCherokee is about 6" wider at the front axle and about 5" wider at the rear axle than an NT Chero or WAG.
