Someone please enlighten me... How in the world do you change this thing? My NEW one already quit working and the transmission shop installed it. I have absolutely no idea how to get it out.
More importantly... I have seen other members mention putting it in E-drive manually...HOW?

You will need to remove the rear half of the t-case to replace the diaphragm, a manual would be a good idea.
I would test it with a vacuum pump first to make sure it is the problem by connecting the pump and seeing if the diaphragm holds vacuum.
To get it into e-drive manually would require the removal of the diaphragm (destroy)to get to the shift rod.

Q trac vacuum control valve is a real PIA to change. It's nearly impossible without first removing the t case.First ya need a tsm to give ya some idea of what your doin. The repair is really simple,IF ya could see what your doin.I cut an access hole in my floorboard (sorry purists)just big enough to reach through and change the valve. Then I made a cover for the access hole from another, bigger piece of floorboard from a parts rig.Works for me.

Thanks for answering me! smile.gif
Michael,
That's what I was afraid of! Oh, I know it doesn't work...it's pulling vacuum straight through. Sometimes it'll finally shift into E-Drive after I've been driving for 20 minutes. I really can't remove the case..or even half of it. I just don't have the right tools or a good place to work.
Turtle Jim,
I had considered doing that myself...So I guess I will. Just need something to cut the floor with.... Seems like this would be a good time to try to come up with a manual way to shift it too.
As for anything to give me an idea of what I am doing..HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! All I have is the stupid Haynes book. It doesn't even cover that on the BW T-case. Sometimes I wonder why I even bothered to buy that book.

Removing the t-case is actually pretty simple. Just take off the driveshafts then 4 bolts to the tranny and your done. Replaced one in about an hour. That case is VERY heavy! As for a manual: www.slingdelta.com (http://www.slingdelta.com)
Then click jeeps. This has a full Quadra-trac manual that is printable, complete with part tear down. Hope it helps.

I can email you the blow up diagram of the qt and the vac motor/line routes. The motor is just held in by two E-clips but as mentioned above you need to go inside to get to them.
