View Full Version : Which intermediate FSJ was all AMC 73 or 74

I found two waggys online from the same seller. both are aprox $700 a piece. One is a 73. Thats the one I'm looking at. I think the 73 was the first year for the AMC dash and QT standard T-Case. My 72 has the Kaiser dash and D20. The other waggy for sale is a 74, but is the "spartan" basic model and in rougher condition.

"NEEDS SMOG" and a mint 78:hide: Dodge Ramcharger prospector with a factory 440!! for $3800. Sorry but next to a Chero W/T its my next best favorite. I dont have the money or the patience to deal with the nonsence of trying to keep a carberated vehicle legal in this communist state anymore.

Pass on the info for the 78 for those of us that don't live under the an oppressive regime (at least not yet, but the boy's in Washington seem to be trying real hard to eliminate our inalienable individual rights for their vision of the collective good)
Tough call on the 73 vs. 74
Condition is pretty high on the list, but the 74 would be the first year with open knuckle front and maybe front disk brakes (front disks were optional until 76 on the Cherokee's)

You can get them to pass, plus you're in Lassen County, you'll only have to do it once!

Did the 73 have the AMC dash and Q/T? I know it was the last year for the cheese grater grill.

The 73 will have 5 lug drum brakes, but the cool grill. the 74 should have 6 lug disc front brakes. I believe the 73 will have 1 piece rear axle too. Get the 73 and change a narrow track disc axle to 5 lug. If your not keeping the stock axles buy the one in the best shape. Good luck
