Exocage.

I want to do an exocage on my wagoneer because some of the trails that I am running are way to tight for this thing to fit through :banghead: . Usually the cedars get really close and want to grab fenders and roofs :fsj: and all kinds of stuff. so what size tube do you all use for an exocage and POST SOME PICTURES!:thumbsup: of what your wagoneer looks like with the Exocage.

1 5/8 x .120 is very common for rollcages. if you were doing a internal cage with only 6 pt i would say 1 3/4 x .120 wall. But i would go with 1 5/8 x .120 wall DOM for you app.

To each his own I guess but I always thought an exo cage on anything even remotely resembling DD or street vehcile was one of the most god-awful looking things in the 4X world. I feel bad for that full bodied waggy in the photos. The hacked & fabbed one in rocks OTOH fits in pretty well with its cage. Still not my cup of tea, but at could at leas make an argument for it's necessity. That other one though, brrrrr, it gives me the shivers and detracts from what is otherwise a dang nice looking waggy. I figure if you get to the point you think you need all that tube then why not just remove the sheet metal, build a tube buggy, and be done with it. What's the point of trying to protect something you are just covering up with ugly anyway?

I completely agree. I thought long and hard about doing this to my waggy. To save the body in case of a rollover. But it just kills the great looks of my old beater. Internal cages look better IMO. Wear your trail damage proudly.

To me, there is a right and wrong way to it and it could be done well. I plan to do one eventually as around here pivoting around a rock with some part of the body is necessary, and i dont particularly like the look of crumpled sheet metal if at all possible.
