I'm not sure if this is a repost or not, I did a quick search and didn't find anything on it.

I'm trying this now on a 44 Flat top knuckle and its pretty neat to watch it in action. I can't wait to try some other smaller parts, etc. I am using baking soda instead of washing soda (because thats what I had floating around)

YMMV, and HTH.

preatty cool. I think I have heard of people using it on frames in a cheap swimming pool with a stick welder hooked up to it.

AWESOME, now I just need a crane and a swimming pool large enuf to put my whole darn rustbucket truck in! I never saw it done this way, but I know that off shore oil rigs run a current thru the steel to prevent salt water from corroding it.

Here is something I found about this process, I will try it with some old tools I have.

I use the laundry tub (plastic) and/or a 5 gallon bucket and a power supply. Works pretty good, but in the video he is not doing a very good job in setting up the part.
Ideally you want all the area to be de rusted to have good line of sight to the sacrificial plate, in his case it would have been much better to place a plate on the bottom of the tank, and them place the control arm in the tank flat facing but not touching the sacrificial plate, also don't ever have "good" connector clips in the fluid, it beats the heck out of them, I tie a short chunk of mechanics wire (bailing wire) to the plate and the part, bring that outside of the tank for hookup. (keeps your clips clean)

On small jobs on big parts you can use a sponge or some paper towels soaked with the solution, to do spot removal rather than submersion, you just have to baby sit it alot closer and rinse it out the sponge or towels pretty often.

When done, scotch bright works pretty good for cleaning off all the black stuff.

Also since the fluid is just washing soda and rust, there is no toxic disposal worries. (It just looks nasty)

Make sure to hook the negative terminal to the part you want to keep!

A 10% solution of sulfured molasses and water will do the same with out the electricity. Plus I was in Harbor Frieght the other day and they have a portable soda blaster!

You really would want to de-chlorinate the pool first (water swap) at least give it a good flush after, otherwise the chloride salts will eat it alive after you pull it from the pool ;)
