View Full Version : Anybody own a VMax?
I've wanted one of these bikes since their introduction but never followed through with it. This afternoon, I rode one for the first time...I was stunned, it was everything I imagined and more.
I've ridden some quick bikes before, a Honda Turbo, FJ1100 and my Dad's CB750 with an RC Engineering 836 kit back in the 70's. But there is nothing that compares to that bike in my mind. I realize there are better all around bikes, quicker bikes and bikes with a higher (much) higher top speed; however, riding the Max just made it perfectly clear in my mind...it is a MUST have.
It has "243" written all over it, the mellow exhaust, jet fighter scoops, brutal low and mid-range, purpose built...

My landlord has one (actually, he has around 120 bikes, many still in boxes) that I've been trying to get him to sell to me for about four years now. It's right purty, it is.
This guy...I tell ya, he's a nut. He owns at least one of each of the following: a Norton, a Combat Wombat, the aforementioned VMax, several Honda 750s, a Harley (that he hates), several BSAs, several Triumphs and other assorted scooters that I can't remember right now. THe last time I saw them they were stacked willy nilly in an old church that he bought for storage space--a three story building, packed to the rafters with assorted CRAP!
He never rides them, but he won't sell them either. Makes me sick sometimes...

My Uncle has one I think its a 96, This is a NASTY bike! I've rid'n my share of bike also, the torque is UNREAL on that monster! If the wife would let me get another toy thats what I'd get! :D He has done some mods to it, pipes, jet-kit, lowered it a inch and some other stuff, can't remember all of it. He say's he suprises alot of the crotch rockets in the straights however he says it's not the best cornering bike! I'd recommend it! :D
