I just found a couple pics of a convertible FSJ I saw tooling around Colorado Springs a few years ago. I think it's a pretty sweet ride and think it would be perfect for a SoCal surfin' woody. I don't know where it went, but haven't seen it around lately.

That looks professionally done. Nice!
I'd worry about the lack of a roll bar, however.

That is wierd looking. It needs some type of roll bar behind the front seats or something. Interesting though.

I wonder what it looks like with the top up.
Most convertibles don't have a roll bar... what's the big deal?

Do you it has a hard top or soft top? Who could make a soft top if someone wanted to copy it?

Looks that this one doesn't have hard or soft, just so... :)

Actually, a lot of convertibles have a very low-profile roll bar built in somewhere; often incorporated into the body itself so it isn't even noticed by a casual observer... A lot don't, but you inevitably see aftermarket manufacturers finding a solution for owners.
I know I wouldn't want to be in something with no roof support... there should at least be enough guaranteed free space in the passenger/driver area to prevent someone's head from greasing the pavement in the event of an accident. Ouch!
This waggy looks like a fun cruiser, but I'd be keeping my fingers crossed if I were driving it. :)

Not a lot can happen in the mall parking lot. :p
I plan to have a convertable top made. I just got the parts I need to bolt it together and get it out of my garage. Cage is bent and laying in the floor.

It will be ready by June - ECI 2010.

Lack of a roll bar wouldn't keep me from driving it anywhere. It's not a Shelby convertible or a Cobra for God's sake. I think it looks great even if it's a Wag. :p

Boy that looks cool. That will give me more reason to make ECI '10. Do I need to bring my hydraulic jack with me again for this one too?

I've seen a truck that was rolled on it's side just from being broad-sided.
And I also have seen proof that a single hoop behind the front seats won't help you when the truck lands upside down with the hood laying on the pavement. You need a hoop in front of the seats to make a protective cage.
That said, I'd drive it until I saved the $$$ for a nice cage.

Looks like they did a better job then I did but mine had a rollbar!

I like the concept, but would never go wheeling in it w/o the rollcage.. That being said, it does look professionally prepared and the design is absolutely showing a certain 'cool' factor.
Yeah, I like it.:D

That thing is SWEET.
I would not worry about the cage for city driving.
Would not take it wheeling without one but its too nice to wheel anyway... Maybe drive out onto a beach or something but thats about it.

My daily driver is a Lebaron convertible - no rollbar - would not be fun upside down but it's not worth worrying about. One thing about a convertible Waggy - if you cut all that weight off the top it lowers the center of gravity making a rollover less likely. I wouldn't do any gnarly offroading without a rollbar or cage though.

Just saw this, absolutely awesome!! No, I wouldn't be afraid to lift it and wheel the wee out of it. You only live once, and I would love all the open room around me to see what I got going on around me. Maybe not super extreme trails, but definitely great for some of the milder trails around Moab. How perfect for a great trail ride and a good camera?

Think it would look cool with a flat fold down windshield and no wind wings... But there is something missing other than the obvious roof. Maybe a small roll bar would put the proportions back in it some how. I like it a lot though. Always taking note so when I roll mine I know what Im going to do with it. LOL

Since safety is no issue here. I think it would look great with a chopped down windshield. Like a boat. You could even cut the right and left front door glass at an angle to give the impression of a wrap around windshield.
I can't imagine what the top under the cover looks like? Is there one at all?
I love love love wagvertibles. I plan to do one someday. I like the idea of a shortened windshield. I wouldn't be worried about a rollover around town- the rollcage would take away from the beauty of the body lines and the overall impression.

I would love to have one with a full roll cage top (ala the wrangler), and I would want it to have a soft top like a commando. That said, how would you roll up the windows if the door frames have been cut out? Maybe there's some trick way of making the frame travel with the window?

http://bobrebello.us/convertiblefsj2.jpgI wonder if the lack of a roof would make it handle alot nicer than non chopped Wagoneers?
Heck yea I would drive that! Offroading on a nice day would be a blast!
