I took my guage cluster out of my 89 GW last night and found a burnt light bulb in the 4wd slot on the back of the cluster. I pulled the one next to it, emission somthing, and put it into 4wd slot and yeeehaaw I know when I am in 4wd now. On my truck I have to shut it off flip the switch and restart engine to engage the 4wd. Sometimes I have to do this multiple times, so it was difficult to know.

I am so excited. I have never had the light before and now I do. Its the little things I guess. My 11 year old son helped me. He helps me fix about everything I do to the jeep because he thinks I'm gonna give it to him when he turns 16. I think he was more excited than I was.

Just in time for the big snow storm too.

Cool!

I'm pretty sure that the emission maintenance light is on a 75K mile timer, don't worry about it.

We have had around 4 or 5 inches since last night. National weather service says 10-15 inches total with 40 mph winds tonight and tomorrow. Might have to take the jeep and do some drift bustin.:drivin:

With your 89, try flipping the switch while driving and CAREFULLY shift into NEUTRAL (don't go into REVERSE!!! ) for a moment and then back into Drive.

Another alternative (if you don't want to wait) is to throw the switch and then goose the accelerator and then coat a little afterwards. Between unloading the drivetrain and increasing the manifold vacuum, the t-case usually switches for me.

I put a 229 out of an '85 into my '88 and there was no plug to plug the wireing harness into....
Now I have no light again...

On my GW, I flip the switch and nothing happens. Of course, the battery is disconnected, it's up on jackstands, wheels are off, ignition switch is being replaced, etc............. Maybe that's the reason....

Ya'll be safe and enjoy the snow........................... but most of all, be safe.
