This is on my 360/TH400/QT truck.

The best I can describe the noise as is a "squeaking". Like a small animal would squeak. The squeaking increases in pitch and speed with engine RPM, but it's not there all the time, just at certain RPM sections such as 750-1000 RPM and 1500-2000 and again around 2500 or so. (these are just estimations.)

It's been doing this for the last 800 miles or so that I've driven it.

It started when a starter threw it's guts out and I had to replace it. The new starter works great.

Also, the noise won't happen when the engine is in neutral or park, only when it's in gear.
I was thinking something with the torque converter? Is there a bearing or something for where it goes into the trans that will wear out?

sounds like a cracked flexplate (flywheel) see if the converter bolts are tight in the flywheel if they are undo them and push the converter back in the bellhousing and tap the flywheel with a wrench if it rings its fine if it goes thud the flywheel is cracked most likley around the crank bolts and that is why it is not knocking
