i'm going to work on it in the morning. i think the motor is dead. it started acting funny today then finaly quit. is down and wont go up. also when i try the switch it overloads the sterio and it temporarily quits. the other windows that work dont do that. i will check for power to the motor in the morning before i swap it out. is there anything i need to be aware of or are there any tricks anyone knows about doing this. thanks ahead of time.

Sounds like the motor is getting power but no action.Something is probably jaming it up. More than likely your gonna have to repair/replace the motor as there is prolly poo inside funking up the arbour.]
There are two 1/4" bolts screwing the track to the motor. They are kinda difficult to get at. remove them and take the motor out.

Might aswell clean and lube the track while your in there. oh and check the door lock too!

Check out the photo on my crappy website of the motor dissassembled. Its fairly easy to do.

Sounds like the track may have broken and jammed the motor. If the motor was dead, I don't think it would affect other parts of the electric system. Sounds like the motor is trying to work and drawing power, but can't move.

Also, might check the wiring to make sure there isn't a cut or scrape in the insulation that's shorting the motor when power is applied by the switch.

I've replaced 2 tracks so far with the HELP brand part at regular parts stores. Advanced Auto seems to be cheapest around here - $10. It's the Chrysler mini-van component:(, and it needs to be cut to the correct length.

Good luck
