Anybody out there use durabak to paint doors and interior parts? I just ordered a gallon of forest green for the floor. I was wondering if it will hold up in the sun light. I have heard a lot of good things about this product.

did my whole rig, Duraback on the outside and Herculiner inside. It has held up well with a little fading from UV. Used 2 gallons on the inside, 2.5 on the outside.......phil

Yea use the roller that comes with the kit and buy a bunch of cheap throw away brushes to dab on tight spots. The key here is preperation. Wash it first with TSP, Then I used 80 grit to really ruff up the surface paint without removing it, then wipe it all down with Xylene, dont use thinner or Acetone. I used a gallon. Wear gloves and old clothes cause no matter how hard you try not to, you will get it on you and it is a %$^&* to get off. I love it. I drilled 1 - 1" hole through the floor on each side just before the rear hump, and use removable pipe plugs to plug them. After a day in the dirt, I can pull on the upslope of my driveway, take out the plugs, open the tailgate and blast out the entire interior with a hose. Cleanup couldnt be any easier.............phil

I just hand sanded it. Coupla other points, the stuff {Durabak} sets up hella quick in your paint tray. I'd pour a tray, get about 2 rollers loaded up before the rest of the tray was too thick to work with. Had to add Xylene to thin constantly. It was a bit of a PITA, but it is very forgiving, easy to fill gaps and cracks with. With the grey Duraback that I used, I got inconsistant results, did'nt seen to have the same problems with the black. Dunno if its the extremly low humidity up here or what. Also try to get smaller containers like quarts instead of a gallon. The stuff does NOT like to be resealed after opening. You need to lay down 2 coats to get good results and the first coat needs to be a little tacky for the second to adhere, so plan a weekend for the painting. Also the stuff is solvent based so it dries by the solvent evaporating from it, so even though I laid down two thick coats last year on the outside, It continued to set up and dry for months and will have to be touched up this year cause I can see the old yellow showing through in spots. Good luck and dont get it on your hootis!...........phil

Yes I have also done it. It held up to the hot Arizona sun for almost two years.
