So I'm happy that I now have all the parts to get the 360 back in the J10. WOOHOO! Planning on pulling an all nighter to get it in so I can get it running tomorrow after work. That is until I realize that I forgot to get a new freeze plug for the back of the cam. SHOOT! Run to Monument (the good parts store around here) and they're closed, go to autozone and the adventure begins!
Me: I need one of these (plops freeze plug on the counter)
Parts dude 1: Whats it off of?
Me: 1974 Jeep J10 with a 360 V8
PD 1: Whats 360 in liters?
Me: 5.9 :banghead:
PD 1: 2 or 4 barrel?
Me: It doesn't matter but 2
PD 1: ok, is it off the block, heads, or intake manifold
Me: block in the back where the cam is
PD 1: Is it steel or brass?
Me: Well theres rust on it, so steel
PD 1: Are you sure? I don't want to give you the wrong one
PD 2: I'l go grab a magnet, that'll tell us
(Cue jeopardy music)
PD 2: Its steel
PD 1: Ok, its that one, brb
Me: That says 1.5", this ones like 2-2.5" across, 1.5" is gonna be too small
PD 1: We'll see, hold on sir, you have to be patient
Me:Guess what! That doesn't look like it! Do you have a drawer of them we can match it up to?
PD 1: Well sir, if the computer doesn't list it, we don't have it
Me: :eek: No problem, I'll go to Monument tomorrow
PD 2: Thats probably a good idea, we're not so good with those kind of uncommon parts.
WOW! I think I'm gonna go to monument tomorrow and hug the parts guy who helps me and thank him for not being retarded.
