I was thinking of selling my Jeep because I was getting fed up with the lack of parts/info (that I have found now) that was in non-existent in the mainstream. Althougth in terms of older UV/Trucks
they are definately some of the coolest when done right.

So I am keeping it and planning on restoring it as much as a shade tree guy can do.

First off I've got a 1981 Jeep Laredo w/ the 258. Pretty much stock except for the TFI upgrade I just completed recently.

I would like to do the head conversion soon, as the rebuild has apprx. 30M or less.

Would it be worth it to use the stock FI system that is also used on the 4.0 HO heads? How much work would be involved? Since I do not want to spend the 2k or so for the aftermarket FI kits, and as long as I got the stock FI system for cheap.

Thanks for info.

I haven't done the head swap, I ended up just using the whole 4.0L :D Here's a page that tells very well how to do it though:

Head swap (http://monsterslayer.com/jeep/40Head/40Head.htm)

As for the FI yes, if you can get a 4.0 head with the intake and the exhaust manifolds and the stock FI stuff for a reasonable price do it. It'll make a world of differense in both power and fuel economy.

It won't be a direct bolt on, you'll need to relocate some sensors from what I've heard. I believe you'll also need different injectors. Because the 258 has a bigger displacement than the 4.0 the stock injectors won't work.

Good luck,
