I will soon be on my way back to the states from Afghanistan. My wife has a 1973 Jeep Wagoneer that she absolutely loves. I would like to start doing some of the upgrades that she would like when I get back. On the top of the list is a suspension lift. I would like to do an SOA on it, but was told the rear shackles are different making it more difficult than a 1976 and above. So this raises 2 questions: 1) Is there a company out there that makes a 6 inch lift kit for a 73 Wagoneer? 2) Can a SOA be done on a 73 Wagoneer without an engineering degree? Thank you in advance for any input.

BJs offroad makes a 4" kit but I haven't seen a 6".

I think they are all 4" kits but it's been a bit since I looked in that year range.

Sure, but you are not going to want to do it on a D30 closed knuckle front w/drum brakes (I guess you might want that but I would not bother with it).

It's a rear post mount setup, it can be done but it's a decent amount of work, not real technical but some basic math, welding and persistance is invloved.
I used to have a really detailed build for my post mount rig but that site went down awhile back (it was the "It's Time" one) all the pic's still exist, just not the dialog (30+ days worth).
Those pic's are linked/indexed in my sig below.

HellCreek (http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=109997) also has lifts for the older FSJs.

Her Jeep has disc front brakes, so is it safe to say it's a D44?
