gm hei dist. question

OK I 've been looking for info on this swap for awhile, and I have some questions. I know that you can use 76-82 250 chevy distr. but I cant locate one. Can you use a v8 distributor an change the cap and other internal parts? I'm trying to do this on a small budget. New DUI dist. $200.

If you are going to just want to change the cap and coil do a TFI upgrade. Parts are less than $100. You can pick up a kit like I did with wires for $120. I got mine from www.driveajeep.com (http://www.driveajeep.com)

I have a HEI on my 258 and recently installed the TFI on my 360. I can't really compare the two because I didn't really get to drive the 360 without (engine was just rebuilt.) But it has no problem starting on a cold Idaho morning.

Great info !! Can I get rid of the computer with this tfi?? I just read the post above mine on the TFI and my questions are answered. Thanks for the help.

But not mine..... cause noe one made a similar setup for a 230... so im still wondering if you can just change the cap????
