This Jeep has been on top pf Monarch Pass for a week now. It has a State Patrol tow tag on it since last Tuesday. Anybody know who's it is? Anybody know what type of grill it has on it?

That sucks if they tow it. It'll cost more to get out of impound then it's worth.

They lose a trailer wheel bearing, or maybe some other trailer malfunction? Any clue as to why they dropped and bailed?

actually is that grill a studebaker grill? It just doesnt look right to me to be a rhino.

Went and googled, the Studebaker is differnt. Still it looks kind of odd to me. still a shame to have it towed.

It looks odd because it is not a Rhino. Just a home made version of one:thumbsup:

Frankenstein-
Thanks, just don't want someone to lose it.

I think the trailer brakes went out. There was a snow storm on the 13th. It was pretty bad up there, there was two stuck semi's and a bunch of slide offs. I wouldn't have wanted to go down the other side without trailer brakes either. Its a nice looking jeep, Grand Wagoneer, good wheels and tires, looks to be lifted. Hopefully they went and got it. Its not in the way of anything but it is illegaly parked. The gift shop is closed for the season.

It really is something else to go over Monarch in February and barely see the top of the gift shop:cool:

Somebody is comin for that. I imagine they just haven't made arrangements yet. It's too nice a rig and trailer for someone to just ditch it. I wouldn't wanna pull that much weight with less than a one ton, though. Guy was probably pullin it with a half or 3/4 ton and smoked em. What do you figure the tongue weight is on that trailer right now?

Isn't that a military grill? Maybe an M715 grill? The school bus marker lights are quite chic.

hope the owner gets it in time.

its a shame the little cops gave it a ticket at all. It certainly isn't in the way of traffic or customers to that closed store. Im only 27. My old man tells me police used to be really helpful and upheld good values with action in the correct direction. now they just seem to be a bother.

I cant blame the guy for leaving the trailer in place during a snow storm with no brakes.

There's a phone number on the trailer - if it is still a rental they'll have a rental contract.

I once was doing some testing in the desert and I parked my Jeep in a little parking area off the main road. From where I was testing I could see the truck. A cop pulled off the road, walked up to the Jeep, looked inside, tried the door and then pulled out his ticket book and started to write it up. About 5 minutes later he came by and asked what we were doing. He then told me that he put a tow ticket on my truck and I should ignore it.

I told my buddy about this, an Arizona cop, and he asked if the cop felt the hood. When I told him no he said that it was a bunch of crap for a cop giving a ticket on a vehicle that he only saw once, especially since he didn't even to check to see if had been running recently. He said some cops just like to write tickets.

There is a note with a phone number...but all you can read is (970) and "lost trailer brakes". Unfortunately (970) is a large area of Colorado. I'm going through there tomorrow and I will see if it is there still.

For the most part Colorado State Patrol Troopers are good people and not out to cause trouble. In my dealings with them (I drive a commercial truck) they are quite fair. The Jeep has been there for a week and they haven't towed it yet. Generally they tow 48 hours after they tag your vehicle. There are still some fine police officers and troopers out there.

Good to know there are some good folks still representing the written law in parts of this country. If that were here it would have met its end by now for sure.

I guess living in CA...........all I see are worthless police officers. We even got a guy who shot himself in the foot 3 times while getting out of his car after pulling someone over. It must be an exiting event but not exiting to the extent you forget witch end of your p92 is the dangerous one. OH and just yesterday a cop thought he would be cute and park his car in the driveway of a wells fargo while he questioned a pedestrian. he managed to lock his keys in his running partol car blocking every car in the bank parking lot from leaving.

of course this is no prob for me I got a FSJ :fsj:

I'd have left the truck with the trailer and driven the waggy through the snow storm!! Not a bad lookin' rig! Hope he comes back for it without incident... that grill has to be home made, uneven spacing on the vertial bars...

OMG, THEY GOTTA COME BACK!! THEY LEFT THE HUGGIES IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK!!

I guess they were prepared to make the run down the mountain with no brakes. God knows they'd need em!
