I can still get parts, and its just has so darned many uses. I found my TJ was somewhat limited in its ability to do anything other than transport humans.

They have a 'vintage' look to them, though, they are mostly a modern vehicle. Did I say that out loud? Snort!

Classic body style.
Lots of interior room.
Easy/cheap to modify for trail rig.
Not just another Baby Jeep or Chevy __________ (fill in the blank)
Curious looks from people on the trail who can't believe you were able to get your truck all the way back here.
Amusement when you tell them the State of Arizona considers it a station wagon...

Real AMERICAN steel, not airbags to compensate.
ALWAYS find it in a parking lot...:D
Traction in ALL terrains and weather.
Easy to work on, find parts(just look in the back yard), and modify.

Do I need to continue?

Park your FSJ next to some weenie little punk b-iotch in a jacked up Silverado on TSL Thornbirds with a lot of chrome on it. Watching him stare is priceless. Notice there's no mud on his undercarriage. Then there's always the stooges that are like, "I didn't know Jeep made a pickup!" Then you can mention that they probably didn't know that their Chevy was built in Mexico, either.

Then there's the rides up thru Lincoln gap in Vermont with my grandfather in his Wagoneer in heavy snow when everyone else couldn't get outta the driveway.

They've always just looked like what I thought a truck should look like.

Ditto - 5th FSJ, When I decided to get a new truck there wasn't really any competition... I looked at a lot of 67-72 GMs... but I knew I wouldn't be satisfied until I found another J-truck. It was worth the wait.:fsj:

oh and doesnt it tee you off when you do a jeep wave to other jeeps and get the what the hell is that look( TJ drivers mostly) haha.

Not me, I daily drove a TJ and waved to every jeep that was awesome looking,(stock libertys, cherokees, grand cherokees, commanders, compass', patriots, and new wranglers dont count) but everything else, especially fsjs, I even honked at a wagoneer as I was passing him on the highway and he was on the feeder and gave him the

its the sound of the 360 growling on start up the body twisting the smell of fuel. the 258 6's and every motor that came in an amc and or jeep same thing that couldnt be killed. knowing u could jsut about run water somewhat trough it and itd still run the next day. the sickness of knowing that all of your friends want one but you keep them hidden for your own part usage. knowing that when u drive to a stop light seeing that kid in his brand new f series truck all jacked and with a set of stacks. knowing tathd hed look at it and itd be like Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley is that knowing ur probably the only person in the state of maine that has one on the road.

also too u see the 1500 trucks trying to haul somthing and it deosnt do it then u back up and try and make that lil 1500 seem like a dinky pos then u know u must bought somthing right. aint nothing like a jeep chevy good but a jeeisp beter yeah u m,ight be able to do alot of upgarades to a chevy sb bb what ever those junky things might be but there isnt anyhting beter tahtn pulling one of them oput in a mud whole:D

mopar didnt really do much right is say though how amny of those smaller things uve seen get crashed and how amny of the fsj's have u seen get crashed at on the road not on the trails what worng with that there.

also if you ahve a fsj with a plow frame and a 2500 chevy with plow frame plows obvioulsy and pushed snow. my 78 j10 straight 6 pushed it way further than the 2500 thats funny too
waht can i say i love my jeep till the bitter end of its life span

I like the fact that its not another ford/chevy/dodge. When I went looking for my new project, I knew I wanted it to be 1975 or older (pre smog in CA) and a 4 wheel drive. I didn't want a Ford cause everybody has them and I didn't want a chevy because everybody has them. Kind of stumbled on my J10, but I love it. O yeah, and the other important issue- Its another Jeep to add to my collection.

It's the best classic family truckster that I can also play in when the urge hits.

People who aren't familiar with them think it's at least 10 years older than it really is and very soon I can register it as a classic and start saving on registration, insurance, and no safety inspection.

My grandparent's had one that we used whenever we needed to move something or go somewhere in bad weather. Growing up, it was the ultimate vehicle for whatever you needed....I've got a nice new Dodge truck and the wife has a very nice Commander, but neither is as fun to drive as the Wagoneer I picked up this summer......and it still needs all kinds of work....
now all I need is that Road King I've been longing for and the stable will be complete ;)

It's the most elegant, recognized, iconic MPV vehicle ever, but that's not why I love it. It does make owning more full filling, but I love mine for the shear joy of how I feel when I drive it.

Heck, it's just a blast to drive and it definitely stands out from all other vehicles on the road, ALL others!

And when you hit the trails, it's just amazing how many people come up and ask about it or want to tell you their story of the one they had, or their parents, or friends or how much they just love the look of the classic lines.

There's just so much to love (he-he)!

NOSTALGIA!! I had a 77 Wagoneer in high school and college and a 78 Wagoneer after getting married and starting a family...now the family's all grown up, the ol' lady ignores me and I needed something to be able to play with...and it is still the classiest and ruggedly handsome vehicle to ever come out of Detroit.

I like the way they just crawl over stuff - I'm not a big rock crawling bad arse off roader but I daily travel fire trails and hills and stuff around here to go clear the head and walk the dog. The suspension just seems to be like claws rolling over rough terrain, no problem.

and of course the classic look, chrome parts, flat hood and luxury interior are the best. The truck just EATS the road.

I drove a 2000 Grand Cherokee for a while this year and it's not nearly as smile inducing as my 77 WT! We got rid of that fancy new thing.

Memories of deer hunting in Colorado. Ever since, I've had a love for these things, especially Uncle Hogies 1957 Willys wagon. This thing was un stickable in the snow and Western Colorado mud. I have pictures of my first deer in the back of the old waggy, circa 1981. I also have included a photo of my Uncle Carroll's '74 Wagoneer being jump started by the old Willys, which was the talk of the deer camp that year. "Them new Jeeps just aint a Willys". Although, the '74 Wagoneer was just as amazing with its Q trak ( I've never seen a 4x4 without a t case lever before then:confused: ) We took a ride with a realestate agent that year too show Uncle Hogie some 40 acre properties for sale. the realter had a 71 Wagoneer and took us through Wildcat Canyon in the thing axle deep in mud and snow. I've wanted one ever since:fsj: My old 72 brings back a lot of memories from my childhood and serves as my daily driver. I Cant get the pictures to upload. Maybe later

:fsj: it just fits my style and personality more than anything else out there (maybe save for a 78 f series?hmmm-tight race) I like the classic lines, the lack of plastic, lots of factory chrome, it's easy to get parts and work on (except the hood could stand to open more-lol) and yeah...I get a kick out of all the stares from holy 5hi+ to what IS that to the drooling and gawking...and those leather seats are quite comfy!

It’s a funny thing… I love driving my FSJ. I have a new 4Runner with a V-8, the suspension is better it has 2 times the power, the AC works… its way more comfortable off-road- the stereo rocks, its very reliable but its not cool!

I enjoy driving the Cherokee more! My dog likes the Jeep more- my girlfriend likes the Cherokee more… It does not start beeping when I loose traction like the 4runner does. When I lock the center diff on the 4runner about 10 little warning lights come on telling me all kinds of stuff- when I shift the transfer case on the Cherokee is just makes a clunk and the gears start whining…I love that sound!

The Jeep just feels better!

I love the interior space and I like the fact that I can work on everything without some crazy computer gizmo.

I traded in an 85 GW I had on a newer ford dually pickup about 10 years ago and that stupid ford gave me nothing but trouble with all the computer fuel injection junk (replaced the computer module gizmo twice and it still never ran right). I regretted that move for a long time. I just picked up an 89 GW and I wont make that mistake again. It's nice to own something that I can fix myself even if it means a lifetime of chasing little gremlins.

I love them because they don't have to be perfect...they can be rusted, dented, cut up and looking a bit worse for wear...but to me they are all perfect.

I also revel in the proportions...big and roomy...tighter turning radius than most trucks and "rare" even to be interesting.

Then finally, I really enjoy that they aren't a collector's vehicle...really meant to be driven and to be taken on the trails...truly trail rated.

Because that is the only thing my dad owned as far back as I can remember other than a very breif period when he owned a 318/ 3spd on the floor volare wagon,

I can remember riding in dads late 60's wagoneer and being at the jeep dealership when he bought the new 78 cherokee I have now. and a 66 gladiator w/ cab over camper that I learned to drive stick with.

They mostly remind me of simpler times.

As a kid, my old man had a new '76 Cherokee Chief that he loved and I fell in love with, and the old beater '80 Wagoneer we beat up - hauled everything from us kids to wood to garbage and everything in between.

My first ride, and the only AMC/Mopar prior to the GW's I own now, was a '71 340 Dodge Demon - the old man bought it for me and we sort of fixed it up. It had a transplant 6-pak intake on it and enough bondo to build a retaining wall, and we never did get those carbs synced up correctly. But, I learned a lot about fixing cars with that thing. It was a Hurst 3-sp on the floor - interesting to say the least - with a 4:10 diff.

...back to present, I just love the Wagoneer and am really glad to be fixing up the '86. It's relaxing, brings back old times, simple times, and yet still current enough to be comfy and safe with the family. I can't wait to get it done - knee deep in the garage at this point:-). I'll admit - I'm a newly christened FSJ transplant guy over the past 3 mos, and lovin' it.

I bought my truck for $1000 with 257,000 miles on it. Put about $10,000 into with paint, motor and other body work. Now it will go another 250,000 miles without having to hand it off to a mechanic or get a computer engineering degree.

My son is 3yo now, when he turns 18, I will have rebuilt it again and given it to him. At that time, the truck will be 34 years old and Noah will still be able to fix anything that is wrong with it. There is no "modern" crap in it. Any parts that can't be bought can be replaced with fabbed parts to complete their duties.

And to top it off, the truck is nowhere near finished, doesn't even have a grill or bumpers on it right now and it still gets compliments and envy.

Of all the vehicles I have had over the years. The Jeep Wagoneer is the one make and model vehicle that I have been a passenger in, or driver of every year from Grandpas '65 Wagoneer to my own just yesterday. I can spot a Wagoneer at any angle or just parts of at a greater distance than any other vehicle on the road today. If I had a few hundred million dollars, I'd buy Jeep and revive the FSJ.
