Just finished installing my new Jacobs Off-Road ignition today on my 87 GW. It fired up great and ran smoother than ever. The only problem is that the engine does not quit running when I turn the key off. The ignition system is stock othe than a MSD high vibration coil. I did not have this problem ever prior to installing the Jacobs. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to fix?

Wow! Same problem, different system.. look down a few threads and check out the guy with the MSD issue just like the one you're having... I bet it's the same solution.
BTW, Jacob's tech line is usually *very* thorough and helpful.

Just fixed that today on my'88. Check the instructions in my post "It' running, and it won't shut off".
The diode you need to fix this is a Radio Shack #276-1103
400V, 1A Silicon Diode.
Also known as a 1N4004.
They are pretty expensive....
package of 2 cost $0.69
The heat shrink cost more than the part :D

Just lucky I guess, or you have a resistor wire in the harness

Is your Alternator light burned out? This will break the reverse voltage going to the MSD box.
