Some local guy says this carb will pass tailpipe test. Don't know how he knows 'cause my area of the state isn't even testing yet. Is he shootin' straight?
I have a 4350 now, planning on switching to the factory 2-bbl intake/2150carb since my area will be testing in 2004, and my 4350 has been nothing but a hassle since I put it on.
I'll be putting the emissions stuff from an '83 Wag onto my pickup also.
Anybody got suggestions?

If the Edelbrock carb will pass depends on the rules the NC will implement. If it is just a matter of passing the sniffer test and there are no rules as to modifcations then the Edelbrock carb should be able to pass (if adjusted correctly) with no problem.

I have the Edelbrock 650cfm four barrel on my 1979 360c.i. Cherokee. I was able to pass the sniffer test by rejetting lean for the test, then switching back to the stock jets for normal driveability. We do not, however, have a visual inspection, which I would have failed because there was no four barrel option in 1979, and this carb makes no provision for a vent from the carburator bowl to the charcoal canister.

Short answer, yes , you can pass a sniffer test. ;)
